An awards night was held in Drumshanbo on the 11th December for members of the Leitrim Intercultural Forum who successfully completed training in community group committee skills. Leitrim people who were born in a variety of countries from as far away as the Philippines, Kurdistan, Russia, Moldova, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and a variety of EU countries tool part in the training. Certificates were presented by Enda Stenson, Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council.
This project has been funded by the PEACE III Programme through the European Union’s Regional Development Fund managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by County Leitrim PEACE III Partnership.
The training sessions were designed and delivered by Martina Gilmartin and Marcus Hopkins. Jenny Janosikova assisted with language support.. Hatch Consulting are delivering this project on behalf of Leitrim PEACE III Partnership. Hatch Consulting will be working closely with foreign nationals living throughout the county, developing a strong intercultural network of volunteers who are interested in building their own capacity and getting more involved in the community. The aim of the project is to working closely with individuals who migrated from overseas into the county, helping them to develop a strong intercultural network of volunteers who are interested in personal development and getting more involved in the community.
